  32. correctly identify the model before using the program.  See the

  46.      This setup information applies to the URC-4000 & URC-5000;

  49. 1) Plug the Special Serial Cable into the PC Serial Port.
  50. 2) Plug the Special Serial Cable into the ONE FOR ALL Remote
  51.    Control.
  52. 3) Ensure that there are no loose connections.
  53. 4) Load the IRDC Program.
  54. 5) VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT TOUCH ANY BUTTONS on the remote
  55.    control when using the software.

  71.      This setup information applies to the URC-2005, URC-4005,
  72. URC-4050, & URC6050; see ONE FOR ALL Models for further
  73. information on the supported models.
  74. 1) Plug the Special Serial Cable into the PC Serial Port.
  75. 2) Plug the Special Serial Cable into the ONE FOR ALL Remote
  76.    Control.
  77. 3) Ensure that there are no loose connections.
  78. 4) Load the IRDC program.
  79. 5) VERY IMPORTANT: You must physically press a button on the
  80.    remote control and then click on one of the on-screen
  81.    buttons WITHIN 5 SECONDS to put the remote online. Once
  82.    the remote is online it will remain online (and will not
  83.    respond to physical key presses) until you explicitly
  84.    take it offline by clicking on the 'Take Remote Offline'
  85.    button. When you click on the 'Take Remote Offline' button
  86.    the LED on the remote will flash twice in acknowledgement
  87.    of the request.

  94. IRDC Description
  95. ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
  96.      IRDC is a program that sends commands to a ONE FOR ALL
  97. Remote Control that instruct the remote control to emit INFRA
  98. RED (I/R) signals.  Essentially, IRDC emulates a person pressing
  99. buttons on the remote control keypad.  Any button sequence that
  100. can be physically entered on the remote control keypad can be
  101. emulated with the IRDC program including setting the Device
  102. type.  The range for the I/R signals can easily be extended
  103. through the use of the X-10 Powermid product.
  104.      IRDC is a DOS program that uses a simple point & click user
  105. interface.  (A Mouse though not required is highly recommended).
  106. IRDC is designed to be robust software that is processor speed
  107. independent.  This program is shareware and you are invited to
  108. evaluate it for 30 days. If you continue to use the program
  109. after the 30 day evaluation period you are asked to register it.

  122.      IRDC supports 6 different ONE FOR ALL Remote Control
  123. Models.  The Model Number is usually printed on the front of the
  124. remote or on the battery cover. Be sure that you have correctly
  125. identified the model of your remote before using the program.

  144. The ONE FOR ALL 6 Model URC-4050 remotes have undergone
  145. 2 chipset upgrades.  There are no noticeable physical
  146. differences in the remotes with the new chipsets.  However,
  147. you must configure IRDC with the correct model (6A, 6A1, or 6A2)
  148. since buttons are mapped differently with the new chipsets.
  149. Follow these steps to determine the correct model:
  150. 1) Ensure that your URC-4050 has a device defined to AUX1
  151.    (Refer to your URC-4050 manual for instructions); manually
  152.    test the remote by pressing AUX1 and POWER to ensure that
  153.    the defined device powers on.
  154. 2) Load IRDC and configure it for Model 6A [URC-4050].
  155. 3) Ensure that the software is communicating with the remote
  156.    (correct CommPort, remote online, cable connections firm).
  157. 4) Click on AUX1 and POWER (be sure to follow the screen
  158.    instructions to put the remote online); if the defined
  159.    device powers on then Model 6A is the correct configuration,
  160.    otherwise:
  161. 5) Configure IRDC for Model 6A1 [URC-4050-1], then click on
  162.    AUX1 and POWER, if the defined device powers on then Model
  163.    6A1 is the correct configuration, otherwise:
  164. 6) Configure IRDC for Model 6A2 [URC-4050-2], then click on
  165.    AUX1 and POWER, if the defined device powers on then Model
  166.    6A2 is the correct configuration, otherwise ensure that
  167.    remote is properly configured and your connections are sound.

  204. The X-10 Powermid product consists of 2 components;
  205. 1) a transmitter which receives I/R signals, converts them
  206.    to radio signals and sends them to:
  207. 2) a receiver which receives the radio signals and
  208.    translates them back to I/R signals which are then transmitted
  209.    to line-of-sight I/R devices.
  210. This allows you to send I/R signals from your PC running
  211. IRDC/IRDQ to virtually anywhere in your home.  The X-10 Powermid
  212. can be purchased from any X-10 dealer.

  280.      IRDC will look for an IRDC.INI file in the current
  281. directory.  All program parameters can be defined within this
  282. file as well as Extended Remote Codes & User Defined Button
  283. Macros to populate the Extended Remote Code List Box.  Any errors
  284. found within the IRDC.INI file will displayed with a message
  285. indicating the INI Line was ignored.  IRDC will generate an
  286. IRDC.INI file (or overwrite an existing IRDC.INI file) when the
  287. 'Save' button on the Configuration panel is clicked.  Note that
  288. Command Line Args will ALWAYS OVERRIDE conflicting parameters

  348. The following command line arguments can be entered in any
  349. order:

  351. /Annnn(n) ∙ Base I/O Address applicable to User Defined
  352.             CommPort (Must be specified as a decimal number)
  353.             If /I argument is present, but /A is not; then
  354.             Base I/O Address will default to 1016 (3F8 Hex).
  355. /BW  ∙ Use Black & White colours
  356. /BW- ∙ Use Colour (You would only use this argument to
  357.        override an INI BW=YES)
  358. /Cn  ∙ COMMPORT where n=1-4 (See Communication Ports)

  404.      You can define your own CommPort by selecting User Defined
  405. CommPort from the Configuration Panel screen and setting the
  406. IRQ interrupt and Base I/O Address.  (You could also use the /I
  407. and /A Command Line Args or IRQ= & Base_IO_Address= IRDC.INI
  408. file directives).  IRQ can be set to any value between 1 and 15
  409. (inclusive).  Base I/O Address can be set to any value greater
  410. than zero.  CAUTION: your hardware may "lock up" if incorrect
  411. settings are used.  Once you have enabled communications with
  412. the remote, then use the 'Save Options' menu item to save the
  413. information to the IRDC.INI file.

  434. Keyboard Usage

  436.      Use the TAB/Shift-TAB keys to move among the various remote
  437. keypad buttons and the control buttons (eg. Configure, Help
  438. & Exit).  The Up/Down arrows can be used to move up and
  439. down the Extended Remote Code List Boxes.  Use the Space Bar
  440. key to select the current List Box item, check/uncheck a
  441. check box, or invoke a command button.  (The Enter key can
  442. also be used for all controls except the Extended Remote
  443. Code list box; the space bar must be used.) The ESCAPE key
  444. will exit the current function or the program if no other
  445. windows are visible. The cursor keys can be used to navigate
  446. within the keypad area; you can jump to adjacent buttons by
  447. pressing the appropriate key.  The program will jump over 1
  448. blank row/button if an adjacent button is not present.  The
  449. following quick access keys are applicable when the
  450. Configuration Panel IS NOT displayed:

  466. Problem Resolution
  467. ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
  468.      The ONE FOR ALL remote control PC interface deploys
  469. a relatively simple communications protocol and you should not
  470. experience any problems provided that your special serial cable
  471. is in good condition and there are no loose connections.
  472. However, the timing of the serial communications is very
  473. critical and there is not much tolerance for even minor
  474. deviation.  Any resident software that tampers with the system
  475. clock could throw the serial communications out of sync.
  476.      If IRDC does not appear to be working at all, then read
  477. through the following checklist to confirm your
  478. hardware/software setup:
  479. 1) Verify that your remote control is supported;
  480.    (See the ONE FOR ALL Models topic for supported models).
  481. 2) Ensure that you are using the correct CommPort; click
  482.    on the Configuration button and verify that the active
  483.    CommPort is correct.
  484. 3) Ensure that the Special Serial Cable connections are
  485.    firm and that the cable is not bent or stretched; The
  486.    most likely cause is the 3-pin serial connector not being
  487.    seated properly in the external port of the ONE FOR ALL
  488.    remote.  In some cases, it may appear to be properly
  489.    seated but in fact it is not.  It may be necessary to
  490.    tape the connection to ensure that it is sound.
  491. 4) Ensure that memory resident software is not
  492.    conflicting with IRDC by booting your PC without any
  493.    Device Drivers or TSR's.  (ie. use a stripped down
  494.    CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT).
  495.      If IRDC appears to be working but you run into a situation
  496. where the LED on the remote control stays ON with an amber
  497. colour and will not turn off, then communications between the
  498. remote control and the software have been disrupted.  The most
  499. likely cause for this is a loose connection.  The remote control
  500. is in Serial Execution mode; power OFF your PC, check cable
  501. connections, power ON your PC and reload IRDC.  Click on a
  502. remote button and the LED should flicker amber, then green, then
  503. turn off.  This problem can also be caused by a CommPort IRQ
  504. conflict (ie. having a TSR loaded which uses CommPort 4 while
  505. attempting to use IRDC with CommPort 2); in this case it is
  506. necessary to perform a cold boot to reset serial devices and
  507. then booting without loading the conflicting TSR.  If your
  508. remote consistently becomes stuck in Serial Execution mode, then
  509. it is probably the result of a timing problem; please contact
  510. the author in this case, adjustments can be made to the software
  511. to work around this.
  512.      If the ONE FOR REMOTE becomes "unresponsive" to IRDC, it
  513. could be because commands were sent to it while it was executing
  514. a macro.  This only applies to a ONE FOR ALL 12 which will not
  515. act on commands sent while it is executing a macro; you should
  516. wait for the macro to complete before sending more commands.
  517.      As a last resort, you may want to try using another serial
  518. port to see if this eliminates the problem.  Other common
  519. problems & solutions are listed below:
  520. Interrupt Conflict
  521. ══════════════════
  522.   If you're using a COMMPORT that shares an interrupt with
  523.   another COMMPORT (eg. 1 & 3, 2 & 4), then you must ensure that
  524.   no memory resident software (eg. a FAX TSR) that uses the
  525.   other COMMPORT is loaded as it will not release the
  526.   interrupt.
  527. Serial Mouse Drivers
  528. ════════════════════
  529.   If you use a Serial Mouse, this may cause a conflict if IRDC
  530.   attempts to communicate with a remote on the same CommPort.
  531.   IRDC will not run properly if it attempts to communicate with
  532.   a COMMPORT that has been initialized with a Mouse Driver (ie.
  533.   you cannot use a switchbox between the remote and a Mouse
  534.   unless you reboot without loading the Mouse Driver).
  535. IRDC Encryption
  536. ════════════════
  537.   The IRDC executable file is encrypted and there is a remote
  538.   possibility that the decryption process may fail with certain
  539.   processors; a blank screen immediately after attempting to run
  540.   the program typifies this problem.  Please contact the
  541.   author if you encounter this problem.

  549. addresses).  IRDC is currently supplied as fully functioning
  550. software without built-in delays or "nag" screens prompting you
  551. to register. However, the program will timeout after 10 minutes.
  552. This limitation does not apply to the Registered version.
  553.      A SIGNIFICANT amount of time and effort went into this
  554. program; please register the program if you intend to use it
  555. beyond the 30 day evaluation period.  Registered Users will be
  556. shipped a printed manual and a diskette containing the
  557. Registered Version of IRDC.  Registered Users will also receive
  558. IRDQ.EXE, a command line driven version of IRDC.  See

  672. PROGRAM.  IRDQ is a command line driven version of IRDC that
  673. instructs ONE FOR ALL remotes to emit I/R signals based on a
  674. button name passed on the command line.  Alternatively, it will
  675. 'press' a series of buttons that are contained within a file
  676. when the filename is passed to IRDQ on the command line.  This
  677. means you can build "macros" by creating files of the button
